Do you have experience of providing Financial Crime Risk Management expertise within the Insurance industry?
This consulting opportunity is to support our client, a leading Financial Services company, in performing an assessment of the effectiveness of financial crime risk management.
The project needs a consultant who:
- has experience analysing financial crime risk management frameworks, ideally within the insurance sector, and evaluating how effective they are.
- experience working in financial crime roles in regulatory bodies, law enforcement, consultancy or financial services.
- strong analytical capability, including experience handling complex datasets.
- experience assessing financial crime systems and controls, managing and progressing complex financial crime reviews independently.
Key services:
The key services that you will be asked to provide are:
- Assess how insurance firms manage risks relating to financial crime.
- Review governance, oversight and decision-making structures, offering constructive challenge to ensure firms effectively identify, monitor and mitigate financial crime risks.
- Analyse firms’ financial crime policies, procedures and control frameworks, supporting improvements that enhance consumer protection and reduce opportunities for harm.
- Assess how firms manage outsourced arrangements and third-party relationships, encouraging robust oversight across complex insurance distribution chains.
- Evaluate enterprise-wide risk assessments, internal reviews and audit findings, helping colleagues understand emerging themes and areas of elevated risk.
- Examine the effectiveness of systems for transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and customer due diligence, using insight to shape supervisory outcomes.
- Review large datasets, documents and evidence, identifying patterns that support well-informed regulatory judgements.
- Engage confidently with senior leaders and specialist staff, building productive relationships that support open dialogue and clear expectations.
- Prepare high-quality analysis and written outputs that clearly communicate findings, support decision-making and influence improvements in firms’ practices.
Mandatory Requirements:
Successful consultants will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience working in financial crime roles in regulatory bodies, law enforcement, consultancy or financial services.
- Strong analytical capability, including experience handling complex datasets.
- Experience assessing financial crime systems and controls, managing and progressing complex financial crime reviews independently.
- Experience assessing insurance risks and risk management frameworks.
- Experience in assessing complex money-laundering and terrorist-financing risks across firms with multiple business lines or complex structures.
- Experience using data to identify key issues and express insights simply, supporting well‑reasoned decisions
- Experience in high-quality drafting skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
- Ability to plan and deliver complex work clearly and efficiently, keeping tasks organised and moving forward.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial crime risks in a clear and straightforward way to different audiences.
- Ability to manage workload under time pressure and handle competing deadlines.
Optional Requirements:
It will also be advantageous if you have:
- Experience developing supervisory toolkits, frameworks or quality-assurance methodologies.
- Experience in assurance work, internal audit, compliance monitoring or investigative reviews.
- Professional audit experience or accounting qualifications.
- Ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships at all levels.
