Do you have experience of providing data governance and information architecture expertise, on enterprise data transformation programmes focused on AI-ready data capabilities?
This consulting opportunity is to support our client, a leading scientific and technology organisation, in improving how data is structured, governed and standardised to enable AI-ready data capabilities across a complex enterprise environment. The focus is on moving from fragmented, document-based information towards structured, interoperable and reusable data aligned to modern AI, and particularly, LLM requirements.
The project needs a consultant who has:
- strong experience across both data governance and information architecture disciplines
- understanding of AI-ready data principles including metadata, structure, lineage and context
- experience working with complex enterprise data estates including legacy platforms and data lakes
- credibility engaging with scientific, technical and business stakeholders across multiple functions.
Key Services
The key services that you will be asked to provide are to:
- define and improve data governance standards, frameworks and guardrails across the enterprise data estate
- support the transition from document-based information to structured and interoperable data models
- contribute to the development of data standards, ontologies and information architecture approaches
- assess data structures, lineage, metadata and usability to improve AI readiness
- provide advisory input on new technologies and tooling from a data governance and information architecture perspective
- engage with scientists, engineers and business stakeholders to improve how data is created, governed and consumed
- produce clear and usable governance artefacts including policies, standards, diagrams and definitions
- support the application of modern information architecture approaches to AI, and in particular, LLM use cases
- mentor and guide teams through hands-on delivery and practical implementation of governance practices.
Mandatory Requirements
Successful consultants will be able to demonstrate:
- strong experience in data governance, information architecture or data modelling disciplines
- experience working with data standards, ontologies, interoperability frameworks or metadata models
- understanding of AI / LLM data requirements including structure, context and metadata
- experience working with enterprise data platforms, data lakes or large-scale legacy environments
- ability to define and implement practical data governance standards and frameworks
- strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability across technical and non-technical audiences
- experience operating within complex and evolving enterprise environments.
Optional Requirements
It will also be advantageous if you have:
- experience supporting AI enablement or AI-ready data initiatives
- experience working within scientific, R&D or engineering-led organisations
- experience mentoring teams on data governance or information architecture practices.
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days a fortnight in NW England
